Use an external pilot type in the following situations:

  • Vacuum or low pressure 0.2 MPa or less: external pilot type for vacuum or low pressures
  • When using IN port at extremely small aperture setting: external pilot type for general use
  • When IN port side pressure startup is slow: external pilot type for general use
  • When secondary side piping resistance is low, such as for blowing or for tank filling: external pilot type for general use

*2: An internal pilot type cannot be reconfigured into an external pilot type. The reverse also cannot be done.

As shown in the figure, this is a pilot-type solenoid valve, comprising a small 3-port solenoid valve as a pilot valve and a large 3-port valve as the main valve. Switch the pilot valve to control the pilot air, switching the main valve.
By changing the pilot passage, either N.C. or N.O. can be used.

Piping (Vacuum Use)

  1. 1. Piping Principles
    EXH port = vacuum pump, blower → suction side
    OUT port = tank, vacuum pad → load side
    IN port = plug (when using as 2-port valve), atmospheric release, pressurized air
    Piping should be done as detailed above.
  2. 2. Following the piping instructions above switches the vacuum passage between OUT and EXH. This means the the N.C. and N.O. notations on the function plate are the opposite compared to the vacuum circuit.
    When the function plate displays N.C., the vacuum circuit is N.O. (Normally Open)
    When the function plate displays N.O., the vacuum circuit is N.C. (Normally Closed)

How to switch between N.C. and N.O.

How to switch between N.C. and N.O.

Change N.C. and N.O. by removing the pilot valve and moving the function plate together with the top and bottom gaskets. For N.C., align N.C. to the triangle (▲) symbol. And for N.O., match N.O. to the triangle (▲) symbol.
However, note that the N.O. Specification only functions properly when the appropriate pressure is applied to the valve.
